Privacy Policy

We take your privacy very seriously. We recognize that online apps that use geolocation create unique privacy concerns for users. With that in mind, we want to be very transparent about how we handle your information.

Here's what we *don't* do:

  • Store your identifiable physical location. While your location is transmitted to our servers in order to make Stikki's geolocation functions work, that location is never stored in our database with any information identifying you.

    Stikkis can be posted anywhere in the world, so there's no correlation between where you are and where the stikki is.

    When Stikki sponsor ads are loaded, the location from which the ad is viewed is stored, so that our advertisers can see where users are viewing their ads from. However, this is completely anonymous and not connected in any way to your identity.

  • Share your information with anyone. We don't share your personal information with advertisers or third parties or anybody else. As mentioned above, when a sponsor ad is viewed on Stikki, the location the ad is viewed from is stored, but that location is never, ever tied to your personal identity or information.

    We will also not share your personal information with governmental or law enforcement agencies unless legally required by a subpoena. Despite this, you would not be advised to use Stikki in any manner that leaves you open to prosecution or litigation. Caveat emptor.

Here's what we do:

  • Store your IP address when you log in. This is for security and anti-spam purposes, but it is not shared with advertisers or other third parties.

  • Provide advertisers with anonymous location statistics. As part of our advertising system, advertisers can see where their ads are being physically viewed from. We think this is valuable for advertisers, as they can see where people who are viewing their ads tend to be.

    However, this information is never tied to any user's account and at no time do we provide advertisers with unique identifiable information, including IP addresses or user account information. In other words, advertisers can see where their ads are being viewed from, but not by who.

  • Encrypt your passwords. While we do our best to protect your data, we can't think of everything, and we can't guarantee that we won't ever get hacked. However, your Stikki password is stored using one-way encryption in our database. (It's also why we can't email you your password if you've lost it, as we don't even know it!) This makes it far more difficult for intruders to get and use your personal password on Stikki or on other sites where you use it. We still recommend you use a unique password specific to Stikki.
